Cyclist, 70, left with head and spinal injuries after being hit by car

A 70-year-old cyclist who was hit by a hatchback and then struck a second vehicle north of Brisbane remains in hospital five days after the accident.
Police said the man was riding on the Hornibrook Esplanade at Clontarf, about 37 kilometres north of Brisbane's CBD, when he was struck by a Hyundai i30 on Saturday morning.
He ran into a second vehicle before falling onto a refuge island in front of the Bells Caravan Park.
The driver of the white Hyundai i30 left the scene of the crash, police said.

The cyclist was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remained on Thursday with serious head and spinal injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
